Republishing courses due to Flash decommission

Oct 08, 2019

Hi all.  This is probably a dumb question, but I want to make sure my group is doing this correctly.  Our LMS provider let all our training groups know that, due to Flash not being supported in web browsers beginning next year, we will need to republish our courses in HTML5 format.  They specifically referenced any Quizmaker and Engage interactions needing to be redone.  Our group has upgraded to Articulate 360 and is in the process of going through our courses.  So I guess my question is, if we republish the courses as "HTML5 only", does that solve the problem?  Or is there something specific we need to do with Quizmaker and Engage interactions as well?  Thanks for any help the group can provide!

Hello, Karl!

No silly questions. This is a great one, and I'm glad you and your team are being proactive! It sounds like you took all the right steps already, but I'll outline them here:

  • Since you've updated to Articulate 360, you'll need to upgrade the files to Studio 360. Here are examples of how to do that for Engage and Quizmaker.
  • Then, use any of those Studio 360 tools to publish with HTML5-only output. This content is supported on all the major browsers outlined here!

You can learn more about what we're doing to prepare for this change in this discussion: What we’re doing about Flash.

If there's anything else I can answer, I'll be here!
