reset a button state when retaking a quizz

Aug 15, 2016

I have a module with a 'base slide' which has button that link to different videos.  once the user clicks the first button and watches the first video it greys out (visited state) which is what I want. However after the person take the quiz and wants to retake the quiz, I want the base slide buttons to return to initial state again, but can't figure out how to do it. I'm attaching copy of one of the modules for you to look at.

The buttons are set to change on that slide after they are clicked once.
I do not want to set the slide to normal state each time it is selected, as it is selected multiple times throughout the course when the user wants to see another video.
What I want to do is set the button (that has been greyed out) after the person has seen the video the first time - to reset to normal or same color as normal when the user wants to "retake the quiz" - which is button 2 on the results slide.

Hope that's clear

Hi Angela! Please note that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature. You are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.

I appreciate you sharing the details with me. I was not seeing a state change on your buttons because you had the slide properties reset to initial state, which changed it back to normal when re-visiting and I was not sure when you wanted the 'grey' to happen.

I adjusted slide 1.4 to have the slide property of automatically decide and set the results slide to jump to this slide when the user clicks re-try, so that they will have to reselect the buttons (which sounds like what you want).

I then added a new T/F variable and named it RESET. This variable adjusts to true when the user goes to retry the quiz. Then the buttons for the videos adjust state if this variable is true. This variable is set to adjust to false when the timeline starts on either slide 1.5 or 1.9 depending on which way the user goes first as well.

Your updated file is attached. Hope this helps!

Forgive my ignorance, but I have no idea why the attachment you sent has so many files
I thought you were sending me back a corrected .story file
I can't seem to find the file that I need to open in Storyline to see what you did!

I've only included the .story file for you here. Can you right click on the download and open in Storyline or open Storyline first and then open the file? Be sure that you are coming to the forums to grab the file. Depending on your browser, you may need to do a Save As.
