Reset Attempts

Jan 20, 2015

Hi,

I am working on creating a course where if you get a question wrong, it will take you back to the beginning of the section to review the information.  I have it working where it will take you back to the beginning of the section after 2 or more attempts.  The problem is I want to give the learner 2 tries then bring them back.

I know this is simple with a graded question, but I am using survey questions as we are not grading our learners per say, and it is messing up with some reports on the LMS side.

Is there any way to recreate the 2 attempts at the question then to branch back to the section, and give another 2 attempts to get the question correct?

Thank you!

Hi Vanessa,

How'd you set it up for the first set of 2 attempts? Are you using variables to track it?

In regards to the reports being messed up - can you share more about that? Have you looked at testing it outside of your LMS in a site such as SCORM Cloud for example? It's an industry standard for testing SCORM content.

I used a variable-- attempts.  Attached is a sample.  We usually insert knowledge checks throughout courses rather than at the end.

I have tested the SCORM outside of the LMS on SCORM Cloud and it scores correctly, based on slides viewed.  What happens in my LMS there is a progress bar, and although it does turn green and allows the user to receive their certificate because they view all the slides, there is still a score of sorts on the progress bar showing 33, 43, or 50%.  I think this will be bothersome for the learners even though they technically passed the course so I am trying to circumvent them seeing that.  I think it has something to do with having graded questions but Articulate nor JoomlaLMS have been able to pinpoint that.  They both point at each other :)

Hi Vanessa,

Thanks for sharing your file here and letting us know that it works at SCORM Cloud. SCORM Cloud is an industry standard for SCORM content, so if something works there that would be the expected behavior. You may want to share those results with your JoomlaLMS team in regards to the behavior - as the progress bar you're referring to is within the LMS not the .story file.
