Reset for Master Slides Not working
May 15, 2013
I've created master slides and then I realized that I needed the font a little smaller and the text box moved slightly. After I made those changes on my master slide, I went back to the original slides and clicked the "Reset" button. My text box moved, but the font side didn't change. As I play with it, it doesn't seem that any actual changes I make to the text (bold, font, size, etc.) on the master slide ever change on the slide itself, even if I use the Reset button. That's how it works in PowerPoint, is it not the same for Storyline? Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Wondering if anyone has any additional knowledge and/or suggestions for me.
thanks so much!
Kristi

Hi Kristi!
If you made the font changes in your Master slide for the specific layout you're using in your slide, it should show up without choosing "Reset" on the slide itself.
Are you sure that you made the changes to the correct Master slide section? To double-check, right-click on the slide and choose "Layout". You should be able to see which Master is tied to that specific slide. Were the changes made in the Master sub-slide that's tied to your content slide?
If you are sure you've edited the correct slide, are you able to share the .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a quick look and see what's happening.
Thanks!
Thanks, Christine. I seem to be making changes on the correct Master slide. I've attached the file here (deleted all the other scenes and just left the one that I'm working with). Thanks for being willing to take a look!

Hi Kristi,
I had a look at the file you uploaded and all seems to be working on my side.
The Puzzlepiece slide which I modified was automatically reflected in the 5 slides...
Check/do the following actions

I hate to bump an old thread, but this is still an issue in Storyline 360 v3.32.20313.0.
After changing a Master Slide text color, I manually reset the slide linked to it and font color does not update to the Master. I can apply another layout (for example, from a single-column slide to a double-column slide) and layout changes as it should, but font color remains the same. Same appears to be true for both slide title frames and body content frames. Change the color of the master, reset the slide and nothing changes. Same for font face/style.
Is there a property check box that I'm missing somewhere?
The option I am using is Right-clicking the slide and choosing Reset Slide. In PPT, the option is in the Ribbon panel. Is there another method of resetting a slide for 360?
Hi Noel!
I'm sorry you're still running into this issue. Have you tried saving a theme and then adding it to your Slide Master?
This is what that looks like:
Also, if you're seeing something different, could you share a screenshot of what it looks like on your end? We'll try our best to find the culprit!
I have the same problem in Storyline 360. Fonts won't update when I click Reset Slide. I did use the Design in my Slide Master and specified color scheme and fonts. Won't do anything except provide Master Slide graphics, re-locate text box, and change the font type (for example, it will switch Calibri to Articulate font). But it won't change the font color to my Master Slide "design".
Hi Patricia,
Thanks for reaching out! To help me understand, did you create new theme colors and new fonts and apply them to the master slide where you see the changes in the master slide, but not in the actual slides themselves?
If you're able to share your file publicly here, feel free to do so by clicking Add Attachment, otherwise you can share it privately with me here, and I'll delete once I'm done taking a look!
Hello there. I need help - cannot figure out what I am doing wrong! So I want to change a layout on my master slide. I choose the Title and Content layout and make the text bulleted. As soon as I click away from the text field, the formatting that I just did clears itself. So, I try adding a Text placeholder to the Title Only layout and making it a bulleted list. Again, as soon as I click away from that Text placeholder, the formatting reverts back to what it was before I added the bullet.
Can we not make a slide master layout in Storyline 360 that contains bulleted text? Please see my short video of what I am doing.
I have tried closing and re-opening Articulate 360, restarting my machine, ensuring that I have the latest Articulate 360 version, and starting with a fresh clean new project each time I try this.
THANK YOU!
Hello Karen!
It sounds like what you're seeing is a request we've logged with our team! Bullets and Numbered lists aren't added to slides when added to the Slide Master. We recommend customizing lists in the Slide View rather than Slide Masters.
I've added your comments to our report to update you if this feature makes it on our roadmap!
I think I am having a similar problem. I am trying to apply a layout that I created in the slide master that has a slide number. Nothing happens when I select it to one slide or multiple slides. I can apply other layouts from the slide master, but none consistently. I tried creating a new slide number layout and that didn't work either. This has worked without issue for the past year. I updated to the latest version this past Friday.
Hello Deanna!
I'm happy to help! Thank you for sharing your files. I've opened your project in Update 41 and Update 45, but I am not seeing any slide numbers. Do you mind sharing which slide master you're looking at?
In following reply.
Hi Deanna!
It looks like the image didn't come through. Would you mind attaching it to your reply in this discussion?
I can apply some layouts in this slide master, but not all. None of the ones with the blue and green shapes in the upper right corner.
Thanks for the clarification, Deanna. I'm experiencing the same issue and I've opened a support case on your behalf so that you can work directly with a support engineer. You should be hearing from someone soon.
