Reset layer to initial state issue - HELP PLEASE!

Jan 16, 2014

Hi there Articulators,

Wondering if anyone can take a look at the attached .story for me, launch it and visit the menu page.

My issue is all explained right in there for you.  No hurry, but my client needs this in 1997 and has plans for my spleen should I not get it to them by then.

Alternatively, could you let me know if anyone in your office is selling a DeLorean?

Many thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig,

You can put triggers on the 4 styles slide that hides each layer when the timeline starts for the slide.  This will hide an open layer when the slide is restarted (if you go to another slide, then come back to this one).  However, if you click right back in to the 4 styles slide from the menu, it will not hide the layer.  Is that also something that needs to happen?

Hi Craig,

First, I actually laughed out loud at your post...the DeLorean got me.

Since your lightboxing the menu slide from your player tabs, it's not considering that click as clicking outside of the rectangle as you've set the layers up.

What you could do instead, is set a small hover area on each layer near where the menu button appears in the player set up, so that the layer is hidden when a user hovers over (disable restore on mouse leave) and the layer will hide right before they click on the menu button. Not a perfect solution - but an easy work around.

Hey Allison and Ashley,

Thank you both very much for your helpful replies.

I think what needs to happen here is for me to simply change the way the menu is accessed.  I'll take it from the lightboxy situation to an on screeny clicky type situation.  That way I can do as you suggest and have it disappear when the user clicks the menu button.
