Reset Results trigger does not work

May 31, 2018

Hi,

I have a post test that learners must pass with a score of 80%. If they don't pass, I have a button that allows them to go back to the beginning of the test and take it again. The first trigger on this button is to reset the results slide. Then the next trigger jumps to the test's intro slide.

What happens though is that the test results are intermittently corrupted the next time through the test. The Results.ScorePoints variable seems to be adding together the results from the last 2 runs through the test. This doesn't always happens, but it happens enough so that the test is unusable. The next time you run through the test it scores normally.

I've tried adding some JavaScripts to initialize the Results.ScorePoints and Results.ScorePercent variables but that seems to have no effect. Can these variables be manipulated at all? I've also set the Results slide to "Reset to initial state" when revisited.

Anyone have any ideas of what is going on? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi there, Peter.  It sounds like you've been working hard to figure out what's happening.  Would you be able to share this .story file with me to test?  Things that I would look for include:

  • Is this happening during Preview and after publish?
  • Does it happen more regularly in a certain browser when hosted in a live environment?
  • What score is being reported to the LMS?
  • Is there any difference if the course is hosted in SCORM Cloud?

I'm happy to run through your course to see if I can reproduce the behavior.  Let me know if that works!

Thank you for your help. I think I figured it out. It's better to set the reset test from the Edit Question Bank dialog box than to put in the reset test trigger. If I have further problems I'll let you know.
