Resetting Starting Slide Branched to other Slides
Jun 02, 2018
Hi,
I have looked through some old discussions and though it seems to be a popular topic, I still did not find the answer. I have an interactive slide (Home slide) that takes users to other slides by clicking on different elements. When they go back to Home slide they see the progress through the states of those elements. How do I make the slide original if they want to do the exercise once again? Setting up to the Original State when revisited destroys the progress of the Home slide and setting it up to the Saved state does not allow users to start again. Any solutions outside of creating a duplicate slide? Thank you!

Hey Tamara,
Sounds like maybe you're looking for the Restart Course trigger - once the user has completed all the slides you can have a restart or try again button with a restart course trigger, which will take them back to the starting slide and allow them to do everything from scratch again.
You could also use variables to keep track of each branch and then reset each branch individually. But it sounds like Restart Course should do the trick.
Hi Ben,
Thank you for your prompt response. This might work but I do not quite understand how can I restart each branch without restarting all of the slides. I have several interactive exercises thouthough the course and users may want to repeat one without doing another one. Could you advice please on how to deal with scenes separately. Thank you!
Ben, I am still trying to implement this solution and when the Restart the course button kicks in, it brings me to the first slide. When I set up the variable to jump to that specific slide from the first slide it does not work, I guess because that variable is reset as well. Am I missing something? Eventually, I will also have that to be working in HTML5 but I am currently just testing the file. Thank you in advance.
Hey Tamara,
Sorry I assumed that your home slide with the branches was also your starting slide, so I figured restarting the whole course would give you the functionality you wanted.
Can I ask when exactly you want users to be able to access each branch? If they are accessing each of these branches through buttons, can you just keep the buttons active instead of disabling them? Or do you want the user to complete ALL branches first before they can retry each branch? If so, the trigger logic may need to be a bit more complex/use variables.
If you can at least show me a screenshot of your setup I may be able to help :)
