Are you on a notebook computer with a half height screen? I bought one of those for my wife, and found it to be a big mistake. So many programs would not fit on the screen, and the only fix for it was to move the program using the cursor keys up or down to access the unreachable areas. The only other fix was to attach a larger monitor to the external connector. I re-purposed that PC and bought my wife a regular size laptop PC. Can you attach an external monitor? if not, it may be time for a better PC, or that magnifying glass.
Are you referring to the way the Storyline ribbon appears smaller than the Word ribbon? If so, you may be running into issues with DPI settings and how Storyline 2 will display on a high resolution monitor. It does need to be working on a set up using a DPI of 96 as detailed here. With the recent release of Articulate 360 it was one of the changes we included to have better support for higher resolution screens, but that change wasn't something they could port back to Storyline 2 based on it's design and risk involved with changing the interface.
I tried it, even though the article was for S1 on Windows 8.1, and I'm
using S2 on Windows 10.
It reduced *everything *to the too-small size, so my flip back was pretty
quick!
Thanks for offering the suggestion,
Anne

Hi Anne and Ashley. I'm encountering the same problem. I'm also running into an issue where my characters heads are all distorted. I've tried adjusting the ratio, but that doesn't resolve the issue, and like Anne experienced, I also noticed that everything on my screen appeared extra small. I'm attaching a screenshot so that you all can see what I am referring to.
You're not alone Anne - we're still doing some cleaning up of the site search within our site, so I had to find it another way. That's where I'm magic. ;-)
If you're using a DPI setting other than 96 described in those articles the characters can look decapitated. It's one of the unfortunate odd behaviors that occurs with the DPI setting not being set as designed, so you'll need to look at changing it - and as I mentioned it will make the overall UI a bit smaller.
I had this problem too, and like Anne I am on a Windows 10 machine. Thankfully I figured it out. The key, as Ashley has pointed out is the DPI, but the fix paths that have been provided are for older systems. To fix this in Win10 you will need to do a registry edit. You may or may not have administrative rights to your machine or you may or may not feel comfortable editing you registry yourself, I was IT support for 17 years before I was an instructional designer so, no shame if you don't feel comfortable. If you don'f feel comfortable, or you don't have rights to edit the registry, reach out to your local site support and ask them to assist you. Please for their sake and sanity show them this post so they know what you want done. Assuming you are comfortable and have rights, its a super easy fix.
Open Registry Editor by pressing Windows + R key at the same time Type in "regedit" (no quotes) and press 'Enter'. If UAC (User Account Control) prompts you click 'YES' Select 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER' select 'Control Panel' select 'Desktop' In right-side pane, look for 'Win8DpiScaling' (no quotes) Right click on 'Win8DpiScaling' and select 'Modify' Change 'Value data' to "1" Click 'OK' Close Registry Editor. Restart your computer. you have to restart so the registry changes take effect.
(this is what it looks like, selections are boxed in red
As you can see after restart my storyline2 ribbon is now a touch bigger than say Word.
Hope this helps,

I also wanted to let you know that with the introduction of Storyline 3 and 360 we were able to introduce a programmatic fix for the hi-dpi issues so that those two applications should require this fix!

Hi Dave,
It's a HP EliteBook Notebook, with a 14" screen, and a LCD aspect ratio of
16:9.
Would that qualify as half-size?
Thanks for the quick reply,
Anne

hmmm, no, that's a normal wide screen.
What is too small? The little image in the scene? Double click the scene to open it a view your slides.

Hi Anne,
Sorry about that - here's the article for Storyline 2.
It'd be the same steps though, and therefore not a resolution as it'll make it smaller again. :(

Interesting, I searched for DPI and Dots Per Inch in the S2 area, and got
no results!
You must have a magic touch!
Thanks for checking,
Anne
