Resizing Step by Step Screen Recordings After Adjusting Player Size

Dec 27, 2015

Hello,

I made 9 different stories using screen recordings and step-by-step view mode to create a tutorial for our employees. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I created all these recordings that I realized when viewing the screen recordings through the player preview the text is almost too small to view. I followed this thread to change my story size to make the player larger.

That's great. Now that the player's larger, is there a way to increase the step-by-step recording size within the slide to fit the new player size? The screen recordings are still the size of the original slide, which is still too small.

Or - is there another way to make the text/screen recording size of all these recordings larger so it's easier to see in the player - without having to create zoom windows within each slide of all nine stories?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Leslie,

My problem occurred after I already changed the story size. By changing the story size the player is now larger, but when I click on the screen recording within a specific slide to try to resize the image to fit the larger story size I cannot resize the image.

I need to adjust the image size of the step-by-step recordings now that the story size is larger.

Thanks!

Hi Lindsay!

You can adjust how your player size displays as well and you can find instruction within this tutorial. You did mention that you are viewing via that player preview, which would not be a very good indication of what the course would look like to your users. Have you taken a look at the actual preview or perhaps the published version?

Would you be able to share your .story file for us to take a look if needed?

Hello,

I am having the same issue Lindsay was having. I made my Story Size as large as possible, and I inserted a screencast in View Mode. I was then able to click and drag to make that video fill out the entire space inside the player. I tried to use that same video for a Try Mode version, and there seems to be no way to re-size these images like I did for View Mode. I really need the Try Mode images to be bigger for the end user. Is there a way to do that?

Thanks for the help!

And come to think of it, Skylyr, would it be possible for you to share a bit more about some of the settings you are utilizing?

Could you please share what size you're using when you record vs. the size of your story? And also, could you please share what you have selected for player/browser scaling?

In addition, have you had a chance to take a look at this information on How to Create a Chromeless Player?

Sure. I have been able to successful modify my story size and player size without any issues. I made the story size as wide as I could (2047w x 900h), and then changed the player settings to fill the browser window. When recording my screen I selected "2047 x 900 (story size)." Then when I insert the screen recording it leaves a bunch of excess white space between the player and the recording. It's being input into the scene at 1362 x 764, but when it's in View Mode I can go to options and adjust the size to fill the entire player. However, my issue is when it's in Try or Test Mode and isn't able to be re-sized.

Hi, Skylyr -- Thanks so much for your reply, and based on the details you have shared, I think we'll need to see your file to help determine where the white space is coming from if you have it recording as the same size as your story. I will go ahead and set you up in a case momentarily, and you will receive a confirmation email to that effect shortly thereafter!

Hi, Skylyr --  Just wanted to touch base and let you know that your case #00783835 is now in our system and you should have received 2 emails. The first is a confirmation email and the second contained an upload link you will need to share your file. Please send it back when you can and we'll let you know our findings as soon as possible. Your patience is appreciated! :)
