Resource oh resource, you're causing so much discourse!
Mar 04, 2015
Hi all, I am hoping you can once again spring to my rescue and show me the (no doubt obvious) error of my ways!
I have added a few links to the resource section of my eLearning module on Storyline 2, tested each link and they were fine. I published the course, can see the resource tab, can open it up and the links are there, ready to get the clicking of a life time, but when I click....nothing...nada...not a dickybird (I think this expression may be British in origin and not as popular with friends outside of the British isles...but feel free to use it! It's original meaning is 'Not a word' although nowadays it is used to highlight the fact that nothing has happened..... I digress!).
Am I missing something obvious (probable)? Have I unearthed an issue that no-one has ever come across (highly unlikely)? Will I always use humour to keep people at arms length and thus avoid any real emotional intimacy (irrelevant!)?
If any of you fine minds could suggest what I might be doing wrong and how I could fix it I would be tickled pink!
Thanks in advance
Adam

Hi Adam
I just tested in SL2 with two links and it works fine in both IE and Firefox.
Here is my sample published file...see if you can open the links or if you want to upload your file I can test yours
Hi Wendy,
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I am unable to access your published file. I am uploading a test to see if it helps at all.
Hi Adam
both your links open fine for me in IE and FF. I noticed you published to LMS, have you tried uploading to Scormcloud to test it there?
Hmmm.....How very strange! I will give it a go!
Hi Wendy, I have storm clouded it up and you are right, it does work, I am guessing that it must have something to do with publishing it for LMS? Either way, I am hoping that this means that all links will be available once they have been loaded up to our LMS. Thanks for helping me work through it! :)
Hi Adam,
First, your post made me chuckle, so thank you for that and all the new vocabulary that I can use.
In regards to it working in SCORM Cloud, that's great to hear as it's an industry standard for testing SCORM content. Where are you normally testing the published output to see this behavior? if you're testing locally that's likely p art of the problem as testing locally could cause you to encounter some security restrictions as detailed here. If you've been testing in your LMS you'll want to reach out to your LMS team for additional help.
Hi Ashley,
Thank you so much for getting in touch. This makes perfect sense as we were testing before uploading to the LMS. It all appears to be working fantastically now, and thanks to you I now understand why it wasn't working in the first place!
Thanks again!
Happy to help Adam and glad that things are working as expected now!
