resources

I am using Storyline for a presentation and have added resources (Word and Powerpoint). according to the tutorials I have added it correctly, but when I launch the application and try to open the resources, it tries to open Internet Explorer and asks to save the file, before I can open it. is there a way that I can open the file directly from the application?

I'm not sure, but this may be a security setting. I recently included hyperlinks to Word documents in a course. I was able to open them just fine, but my client was not able to open them at all. I changed all of them to PDF documents, and they opened fine for everyone. Our assumption at the time was that the security settings on the client's computer didn't allow another program to open Word or PowerPoint without permission.
Hi. i have tried the hyperlink in the document as well. I have changed to pdf also and still nothing opens. any other suggestions?
Hi Zelda,
Sorry for the trouble. Have a look at this article to see if it helps resolve the issue. It's an article for Presenter, but it pertains to Storyline as well. Let us know...
Hi Zelda.
Files don't open automatically in Internet Explorer. It should simply give you an option to open or save the file but you need to select that. It won't do that automatically.
Hi. the article of peter was helpful thanks. I reset my internet settings in the advanced tab. now it is gives me the choice to open which i didn't have before. tx!
Excellent! Thanks, Pete!
I am getting this error when I view my published course
Hi Karen,
Are you receiving the error message after uploading your published content to its intended environment (web, LMS, Articulate Online, etc) and attempting to view it there? If so, and you're still receiving the error, we'd be happy to take a closer look at it. Please submit a case, including your .story file, using this link so our support team can assist you further.
Thanks!
Looks like you found your solution, Karen. Glad to hear it.
