Responsive or adaptive text on quiz slide in Storyline

Jan 15, 2021

Hello all,

I am working on a project in Storyline 360 where learners need to read some relatively long articles and answer some questions about the article on a multiple choice quiz slide.

I would like for this text to be easy-to-read across devices and adapt the way text in Rise does (i.e., adds a scrollbar and lineation changes) rather than just resize. However, I can't use Rise (I don't think) because this project uses branching scenarios based on Results slides and also uses voiceover that goes alongside actions on the slide.

I've tried embedding the articles as a web object from Rise and also from a website, but I always get the message that the object can not be displayed in the frame. (It works if I have it open in a new window, but I'd rather avoid that.)

My apologies if this is either an obvious fix or if there's documentation on it already, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet on my own. Thanks in advance for advice!

Hi Kate!

I had a quick idea that I wanted to share! One way to create this type of interaction is by using lightboxes. I've attached an example where I created two question slides to appear from the main slide with an article. You can see how I created the project in this short demo.

Please let me know if you have any questions! I'm excited to see what other community members recommend.

Thanks so much for this idea, Lauren! That's a really interesting and solution that I never would have thought of.

I would actually like the learners to be able to look at the article right next to the quiz questions, so I think maybe just using a scrolling panel on the quiz slide would work best for what I'd like to do, even if the text isn't quite as adaptable across devices... however, your example gives me great ideas for other ways of approaching similar situation. Thank you again!
