I have hit a hurdle that I really wasn't expecting. I want my module to be viewed in order but i don't care if the learner goes back to view earlier parts of the module (restricted view).
However when I set this it also prevents the person from using the menu down the side to advance to the next part of the module - they literally have to click the 'next' button and can't just click on the next item in the menu.
I've just noticed that when you do click the next button it goes to the next slide but it doesn't show which slide you are on in the menu list it just greys out the ones you have been on.
Surely we can still restrict how people must navigate through the module and still have a working menu.

Is there a way to get around this?
Hmm, I think you have a good point their James.
I guess most people would opt for restrictive mode because they want the slide content to control forward navigation. But I'm with you on this - I think there should be a way to click the 'next menu slide', however, I can see this being hard to implement.
Basically you allow free movement between any part of the module but put in place variables that prevent some parts of the module being viewed before what ever area you want to specify.

I have been working on this - or rather around this and got some great advice from Jeannette on this thread:
