Results page sends a fail result to TalentLMS even though I have a retry option in the course

Jun 04, 2018

Hi. My results page works well except according to TalentLMS, "when you fail the test it sets bookmarking data for the slide after the test where it says that you failed." The button that comes up on TalentLMS starts you from the beginning of the course, not the beginning of the quiz, which is what I want.

I've tried searching for info on bookmarking data and Articulate, but haven't come up with much.

How do I keep a retry option in my course, but only report the fail state to TalentLMS if all retry options have been exhausted?

I've attached an example project. All other non-essential course content has been stripped.

Thanks!

Hi Michael,

How many quiz attempts did you set up in your quiz? The Retry button on the quiz results slide should advance the learner back to the first quiz question (not back to the first slide in the course).

I see you attached your published project here, but I'm also curious to see your original .story file for a closer look at your quiz set up.

Would you mind attaching that original file here

Hi. The problem isn't the redirection of the retry trigger in Articulate, it redirects to the start of the quiz just fine, even in the full version. Can't upload because proprietary. The thing is TalentLMS *also* has its own retry button below the player that kicks the user back to the beginning of the course. I have no idea how to control or disable that button from within my course.

They said it had to do with the bookmarking data within Articulate. I don't know how to access or manipulate that.

Hi Michael,

If it's a TalentLMS specific button, there isn't a setting in Articulate to disable it. Did they say what you needed to do with the bookmarking data?

As far as bookmarking data, Storyline will keep that and share it with your LMS If you've enabled the Resume option. You can read a bit more about that here.  If you disable resume, that would also start a course over for a user who left the course at any point even prior to completion.

I hope that at least gives you more info to go on - let us know how things end up! I'd push back a bit more on your Talent LMS admin for more specifics. 😀
