Results & pre/post tests.

Mar 26, 2020

I am using SL360. I am a new user so be gentle :-) In fact I'm so new, I'm not even sure what questions to ask, if you know what I mean. I want to design a course with a pre- and post-test so that I can see if the user learned anything. The tests will be identical. Ideally I want to be able to see that after reviewing the course material, the user scored better on the test than before. I'm the educator at a non-profit health-related organization and I want to prove that my course material is effective at teaching my target audience.

1st question: Is this even possible?

2nd question: I can't seem to find any examples of what the LMS reporting looks like. For example, will I only see individual reports, or an aggregate report like  you get from SurveyMonkey? If 100 people take my course, will I get 100 unique reports or will I get one report with 100 results? If I knew what my report was going to look like, it might influence my design.

Thank you in advance,

klw

Wow, thank you so much Lauren! I haven't published anything yet so it helped to see what that looked like. Question: if 100 people take my course, will I get 100 different reports like that? That could be cumbersome for data collection. Perhaps I should link to a SurveyMonkey survey instead so I can get aggregate data? I really appreciate your help! ~Kristin

Great question!

You won't get 100 separate reports. Instead, you'll get one report with the user's score.

What's amazing about Learning Management Systems is that you can pull multiple reports and even customize reports.

I'm not an expert in LMS's so if you have any questions I'll let community members share their wealth of knowledge!

Thank you Lauren. When you say "user's score" I assume you mean one user. Singular. So that's not really going to help me much, if 100 people take my test. I need one report with 100 users scores. This is helpful, thank you, it tells me I should probably link to a Survey Monkey quiz instead. I really appreciate your taking the time to help! I hope one day I'll know enough to be able to help someone else. ~Kristin

Hi Lauren.  Your short tutorial link is not working.  Says the "file isn't here anymore."  Since the first quiz the user takes is recorded (reported to the LMS), how do you get the course to report BOTH a pre-test and post-test score?  Or is that not possible?

I see how you allow the user to see their scores for both the pre- and post-tests, but it doesn't appear that BOTH the scores are reported to the LMS.  Is that correct?
