Results Slide not keeping attempts variable when closing the module

Dec 29, 2021

We are limiting a recertifcation final test to 3 attempts and have been able to manage our learners progress IF they stay in the LMS and reuse our retry navigation. After 3 'fails' they are done.

We have discovered that if the learner exits the module and closes out the course in the LMS and exits the LMS (signout) and then returns to the course and module that the Results page shows them that more attempts than what they left the module with.

The Attempts variable is not holding the count when they leave the module.

We are publishing to xAPI with Pass/Incomplete.

Is there a trigger or state we can use to keep the Attempts variable upon module exit and/or save the Results slide state when the module is closed?

Hello Dave!

An attempt is marked in your LMS when the learner meets the requirement you define. I see in your course that an attempt is marked when the learner takes the quiz or when the complete course trigger sends the completion status on Slide 1.6 or 1.7.

If the learner opens the course and doesn't meet either one of these requirements, then an attempt is not used. Are you finding that an attempt isn't marked when a learner meets either one of these requirements? If so, I'd recommend reaching out to your LMS administrator to see which completion and success status they recommend.
