resume course after completion status

Jul 30, 2014

Hello

We have created a course containing several scenes. After completion the first 2 scenes the course is set to 'complete' via a Javascript rule. But the user can view the other scenes after this completion as well.

The problem is that the resume state doesn't work well after the course achieved the completion state.

I have followed this tip to disable the review mode after completion (http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/resume-doesnt-work-as-expected-after-meeting-the-completion-requirement), when resuming and continuing the course, the new score is passed to the lms but the course doesn' t resume to the last viewed slide, it resumes to the last slide viewed when the course was set to 'complete'.

This also means that when a user comes to the last scene where he can replay the course via a 'restart course' trigger, this trigger is undone when the user closes and reopens the course. Because the course leads you back to the last screen you saw when you completed the course.

Can someone please help me with this?

Kind regards

Hi Nina and welcome to Heroes!

Thanks for sharing that article here, and it's something that we can't support or recommend as it does involve changing and modifying the published output. With that in mind though, if you've already modified it and it's still not working as expected and always bringing you to the slide where you met the completion requirement I'd like to know what version of SCORM you're using to publish, Scorm 1.2? If so, you may be exceeding the suspend data limit which is detailed a bit further here.

You may also want to test the modified behavior in SCORM Cloud to see if your LMS is just not permitting the change you're making. SCORM Cloud is an industry standard for testing SCORM content.

Please feel free to keep us posted on what you determine.

Hello Ashley

Than you for your information. It was indeed the suspend data that was exceeded. I have published to scorm 2004. The new problem is that when the course is set to 'complete' (via a Javascript code on a certain slide) and we close the course. The next time the course is automatically reset and start in the beginning scene again. The message to resume is not shown, the course is automatically reset. We have this problem is scormcloud and totara, but not in Kallidus.

Any tips are very much appreciated.
