Resume problem. Storyline2
Jun 29, 2017
Hi,
I have a course which is fairly wordy with a number of text entry exercises. When students complete and exit, then resume where they left off it doesn't take them to the end...it takes them to the middle and it hasn't retained their text entry answers from that point forward.
I've reduced the number of slides, and deleted unused variables etc, but it hardly made a difference.
I'm using SCORM 1.2 on a fairly out of date moodle - not ideal I know.
What else can I do. Can anyone look at my file?
Melanie

Hi there Melanie, I'm glad you reached out. Let's tackle this together. 😊
First, test out your file in another LMS environment. SCORM Cloud is a good option because it's industry standard, and it's free!
If you'd like me to help you with that testing, attach your file here, and I'll take care of the rest.
Yes please - here it is
Standard moodle has a limit of 4000 characters for the resume function to work. Later versions of moodle have a setting to increase it to more than 4000 characters. See if this might work for you.
It's an accredited course - It has to have the character's that it's got.
Newer version of Moodle can override the scorm standard, you can also hack the code of moodle to increase the limit. If you are really on 1.1.6 you should upgrade.
Here you go, Melanie! Try this link, and let me know if you're seeing the same resume issues that you saw in Moodle. Like others have said here, my hunch is that this is only happening in Moodle. This test will confirm that.
I'll be standing by!
Hi there,
Yes it's doing the same thing. What does this mean now?
It is a limitation of scorm 1.2 where only 4096 characters can be saved in the bookmarking data. Your text is sending too many characters. Newer versions of moodle will fix this or you can hack the code (Dam Marsden often pops in here and can help with this). I think Dan would tell you to upgrade moodle for security reasons.
Hi Melanie!
I wanted to point you to this article that has some solutions for overcoming limits imposed by earlier versions of SCORM. Let me know if that helps!
