Resume saved state and Vimeo

Jul 01, 2016

Hello heroes!

I've uploaded a video on Vimeo, then embedded in Storyline 2. It works great!

Unfortunately, the resume saved state function affects the seekbar only, while the embedded video starts every time from the beginning.

Is there a way to prevent this? Maybe a Javascript within the embedding code?

Thanks in advance

Hi, Mauro -- Thanks for reaching out here! My apologies if I am not totally clear on what you need, but perhaps you might want to check out the following discussions in case any of the suggestions offered will work for you?

Hi Mauro!  I just wanted to chime in, too....if this is what you mean--currently, there isn't a way to bookmark a video so that it will pick up where you left off in Storyline.  Our resume behavior allows somebody to return to the slide where they exited.  An alternative might be to break up your video into a few slides, depending on how long it is-- a little bit of a workaround that will at least get your learners close to where they stopped in the video.

We can't offer too much advice on JavaScript, but perhaps some other community members can weigh in with thoughts!

Thanks for your reply Christie and Crystal! I've already checked those topics you suggest since I've been experimenting for a long time with video.

I was wondering if there's a way to use the suspend_data variable, in order to interface with vimeo's embedding code and get the video started from a specific time when the scorm is resumed.

maybe through a javascript but I know nothing about it...

Hi, Mauro -- Thanks for reaching out, and as all LMS providers and the services and information they can provide are unique, you may want to share the name of your LMS here so that other who might use the same service are able to chime in with their ideas and suggestions. Also, may I ask if you have contacted your LMS directly as well for their insights on how to gather time-related information?

Not sure if this addresses your problem exactly, but it might help somebody searching on this in the future. In Articulate 360, I  made a 'start video' button which triggered a layer where the video played. I set the base slide to 'resumed saved state' and set the next button as disabled but added a trigger that changed the next button's state to normal if the start video button was in it's visited state. So when the learner clicks back on the slide, the next button is available for them to skip forward and the play button shows them they've watched the video. So far, it works well.

Hi Jeni and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

I cannot speak for Michelle, but I assume that she has a trigger on that play button to show the layer when the user clicks, so it should work for replaying as well.
