It seems that Storyline resets the Results.(?) variables if the learner drops the course mid quiz.
What seems to happen is when the learner reenters the course any work they have previously done gets wiped out, so if they pass requirement is higher than what the rest of the quiz allows, they can not pass and have to retake the entire quiz.
How do you have your Resume behavior set up? You can set it to "Always" and this way it will keep any work the individuals have already completed and allow them to continue from where they left off.
If you choose Always, and if you'll be hosting your content in an LMS, do one of the following:
If your LMS supports bookmarking, mark the box labeled When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The LMS will control resume behavior in this scenario.
If your LMS does not support bookmarking, uncheck When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie. The Flash cookie will control resume behavior in this scenario.
