Retaining variables on a lightbox
Jan 22, 2020
Hi,
I am currently creating a compliance course allowing the learner to look around the workspace, and every time they see a hazard they can click on it to learn more. They have been given a notebook which is available through a lightbox link at the top of the page and the aim is that every time they find a hazard notes detailing it appear in the notebook.
I've set up variables for each hazard based upon True/False and clicking on the hazard changes the variable to True. Within the notebook, the text linked to that hazard is currently hidden, but when the variable connected to it changes to True, it's state changes to Normal.
However, when I visit the lightbox after clicking on the Hazard the text is only there for the first visit. When I return to the lightbox it has gone and no other text is visible either despite clicking on those hazards.
Can anyone help so that the text on the lightbox slide remains and builds up as they progress through the course?

What triggers are you using exactly for the lightbox slide? Also, what are you slide properties for the lightbox slide? How you are doing it should work as long as the trigger and the slide properties match. Feel free to share a story file too, that would help to diagnose the issue.

Sounds like the trigger is when variable changes (although it should change on the Lightbox) it should be a timeline start trigger. Posting an example or screenshots of the trigger panels can help
Hi Randy & Phil,
Thanks for the quick response and help. Phil, you were absolutely right. I had the triggers on the lightbox set to "Change the state of the object to Normal when the variable changes if the variable is True" and it should have been "Change the state of the object to Normal when the timeline starts on this slide if the variable is True".
It all now seems to work correctly so thanks both of you.
Glad you go it sorted
