I'm trying to create a screen with alphabetical index of terms for my students.
Instead of creating every letter with its own screen I'm trying to make it smarter and find a way (SQL? Javascript? something else?) to retrieve the information from a separate document.
For example: By clicking on a button with the letter 'B' on the screen, only lines from my file starting with B will be shown inside a textbox above it. My file is now a spreadsheet with two columns (term, description) but I can change it to whatever is needed.
Javascript and a Web Object are probably the best option, though if you choose this combination you need to know the security limitations web browsers impose of SL and similar content when working with local content. The vast majority of work for your ask is outside of SL (server side)
