Retrieving text from published course?

Aug 15, 2017

My team is examining Articulate Storyline 360 as strictly a storyboarding tool. We'd like reviewers to get a better idea of the interactions we have in mind that don't translate well from PowerPoint and to use Reviewer. Right now, we storyboard in PowerPoint and the developers grab the text to code into our custom code framework.

I published a few test modules in various formats but we found that we couldn't select and grab the on-screen text because it is embedded in an svg format (presumably to preserve fonts).

We tried the Translation Export feature, but removing all of the superfluous text (Back, Next, etc.) is more time-consuming than we'd like and it left developers uncertain which text belonged to which screen unless they had the published module up in another browser window.

We could retain two instances of the course (one in Storyline, another in PPT), but maintaining two versions of the module isn't ideal.

This all said, is there any publishing option in Storyline 360 that would allow cursor selection of on-screen text? Thank you for any insight you can offer.

Hi Jenda,

Have you considered copying all of the on-screen text and pasting it into the Notes section? From there, publish to Microsoft Word and enable the "show slide notes" setting. Your reviewers can then copy/edit the text in the resulting Word document.

That's just one idea, and I'm sure other folks who have had similar requirements would be happy to share their suggestions, too!
