Review Quiz does not progress through correctly answered items

Feb 17, 2022

Hi! First time Storyline user here, and I could use some assistance. My courses have several quick 5-question knowledge checks throughout them. I've disabled the outer menu course navigation and instead have "Submit" buttons built in. They work fine when taking or retaking the quiz, but when in Review Quiz mode, if a quiz item originally was answered incorrectly and I hit my Submit button, it progresses to the next question to review normally, but if I hit my Submit button on a quiz item that was originally answered correctly, nothing happens. Thoughts?

Example attached; see scenes Knowledge Check 1 & Knowledge Check 2. Thanks!

Hey Jonathan, thanks for this question.

When setting up the Review trigger for your quizzes, you should make sure to mark the "review incorrect questions only" box. The review button won't carry out its usual function for questions that have been answered correctly. I have gone ahead and attached a screenshot and a screencast of the process can be found via this link. You can also click here to read more about the Review trigger in Storyline360.

Have a great day!

Hello Jonathan, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

I appreciate you chiming in to share what you are experiencing along with your .story project so that we can take a look.

It looks like your menu and controls are turned off in your player.

The previous and next buttons won't show when reviewing a quiz if you disabled all the features at the bottom of the player. To show the player navigation buttons in quiz review, you can do either of the following:

  1. Enable at least one of the player controls, such as volume, seekbar, or accessibility controls. More information on choosing player controls here.
  2. Enable one player navigation button on a slide in the Slide Properties, then add a trigger to set this button's state to hidden when the slide's timeline starts. Here's our tutorial on slide properties for additional reference.
Here's our tutorial on working with triggers.
  3. If you don't want to use the player navigation buttons, you can create custom previous and next buttons on your questions' review layers. Here's how you can customize your review layer.
