Reviewing Quiz w/ Manual Submit Button

Oct 03, 2013

I have a quiz where I've turned off the Prev/Next/Submit buttons, and created an on-slide button the learner clicks to continue. On that button, I've added the trigger to Submit Results when clicked. However, when the learner goes back to review the quiz, this button still submits the results, rather than just going straight to the next slide. Does anyone know how to change this action when reviewing the quiz? I tried adding a variable (set Q1 to true when user clicks Continue on the Correct/Incorrect layer; and then if the user clicks the manual button I created and Q1=true, then to jump to the next slide; if Q1=false, then Submit Results) but that didn't seem to work either.

Thanks,

Christina

Greetings, Sue!

It sounds like you've already tried a few tactics, and we're happy to extend a hand if you still need support.

Could you share the .story file? You can attach the project to this public discussion or upload it privately for our team. Either way, we'll report back with our findings!

Hi Katie,

I was able to figure out a solution to that by creating a separate layer containing the next button on that layer.  The only thing left that I can't figure out is how to remove the next and previous arrows that show at the very bottom just for the quiz questions in review.  I was able to remove them from the other slides but not from the quiz questions in review mode.  Can you look at that here or do I need to submit a separate discussion item?

Hi again, Sue!

Great approach, and I appreciate you sending in a file for us to test.
I'll share Leslie's findings publicly in case others run into the same question:

When learners review a quiz, they'll see Storyline's built-in Prev and Next buttons in the lower right corner of the player—even if you've disabled them throughout your course. More details:
