Ribbon size in storyline 2

Jul 17, 2017

Hi, it is a lovely day because I just received a new laptop.

After installing storyline 2 on the new computer and trying to start working it appeared that the size of the ribbon and other storyline text is to small to read. In windows 10 you can change at the display settings the 'Change the size of text, apps and other items:'. At the highest setting of 300% the ribbon in storyline 2 is stil to small. Other programs the ribbons are filling now 25% of the screen. So set the size back to 200% what seems normal for other programs(apps).

Does somebody know how to change the size of the ribbon in storyline 2 independent of the windows settings?

For Storyline 2, this thread should help - https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/hi-dpi-support-for-stroyline-2

In that thread you will see -

For some time now, we’ve been working on adding support for high density displays to the next version of Storyline. Once preliminary support was in place, we invited a number of you to the Storyline Beta Program to help evaluate the feature.

While we’re now broadly satisfied that the feature works as intended, reaching this point has proven far more challenging than simply flicking a switch. Storyline does an incredible amount of custom drawing behind the scenes, including rendering complex slides with multiple effects, animation etc. Consequently, we’ve encountered numerous issues along the way (sometimes limited to obscure combinations of hardware and operating system), all of which have taken considerable engineering effort to resolve.

After extensive evaluation, we’ve determined that the engineering effort and risk required to re-implement the feature in Storyline 2 as an Update is simply too great at this time. In reaching this decision, we’ve been particularly mindful of the need to prioritize this feature amongst other upcoming bug fixes and other issues that we’d like to address through the Storyline 2 Update program. We’ve also considered the availability of viable workarounds for this issue – such as changing display resolution when using Storyline, or using Storyline on a standard density display as part of a multi-monitor setup.

Hi Paul,

I'm sorry that the small UI of Storyline 2 is causing you some headaches (literal ones too it seems!). The resolution or DPI setting you'll want to use is 100% or 96 dpi which on a high resolution monitor can appear pretty small - but with Storyline 2, not using that setting can cause it to look blurry or have elements of the UI missing.

Ron shared a great link to the background of this issue and what our team has done about it. It wasn't something that could be fixed in Storyline 2, but we did change how we handled those settings for Storyline 3 and Storyline 360. It may be worth checking out the trial and seeing if that's something that would work for you. Take a look at Storyline 3 here and Articulate 360 here.
