I have a few screen recording in my project and some of the triggers are "right click" but once I publish my course and test it, if I click my mouse right click the flash settings window opens and I cannot continue.
is there any solution for this?
(one more thing but less critical is that the "double click" trigger works also if I've only clicked once...)
Please make sure that you are testing your published content in its intended environment. Testing locally can cause security issues and various features may fail.
You could share the .story file here if you would like us to take a look.
It will only work with the exe file, the html file is the same as the previous way you were testing. The exe file is a flash projector to get around the local security issues.
Hi Michael, I've tested my own version on a server and it only produces the browser right-click context box. Yours works so can you provide a sample for the community to analyze?
This thread is a bit older, and as such I suspect that Michael's output was published with an earlier version of Storyline. Our team is investigating an issue right now where the right clicks aren't working as expected. I'll include this thread in the report file with our team, but I don't have any updates to share yet so in the meantime you'll want to look at utilizing the HTML5 output.
Unfortunately, the right click trigger still does not work for me even with the Udate 7. I am going to try to preview it in the LMS to see it that makes a difference. I hope that this issue really does get fixed sooner than later.
Yes, this is only currently fixed on the base layer but the right click will still not function as expected on the individual slide layers. Our QA team is continuing to investigate that element, but I don't have a time frame to offer in regards to if and when I'd have additional information to share about a fix.
I am using Storyline 3 and have the same issue with the right click 'hotspot' not working after publishing a 'TRY' scene of a screen recording module. (well 99% of the time) The file was created with up to date SL3 on a Windows 10 system, but published for LMS (SilkRoad) for Windows 7 users running IE11. I have found that due to the combination my end users have, publishing as Flash with HTML5 fall back works best.
After loading it to the LMS for UAT, we became aware of the file not reacting to the 'Right-Click' so I went back to the original file on the Windows 10. I noticed that running the HTML5_Story the program ran correctly, however when I ran the Flash_Story, the same issue with the Right-Click not responding.
However, just to through a further spanner in the works, if I 'Right-Click' before the 'hint' appears, then the hotspot sometimes responds. If it is after the hint appears, then it never responds.
Since this thread references an older version of Storyline, let's start fresh.
You mentioned you're using Storyline 3, and you published the content for LMS. Have you tried testing it in another LMS environment, like SCORM Cloud?
We're always happy to help you with that testing. If you'd like some help, simply send us your original (unpublished) Storyline file by clicking here. We'll take care of the rest!
Thanks for sending your file over, Anthony. Our team is investigating an issue in Storyline 3 where the right click trigger doesn't work in Flash output--we'll take a closer look at your file to confirm that bug is causing your issue.
I have a software training course that used screen recordings including a right click to select an item from the drop down.
this worked fine in development and testing but the client default browser is IE and flash. right clicking still does not work. are there any work-arounds?
I passed an example course through for investigation, however I have not yet been informed of any work-around. ...

Thank you very much for your patience about this. I’m sorry it took a while, but after testing, I was able to replicate your issue and could not find any suitable work around that didn’t involve publishing the output as html instead. I can confirm that it does only occur with flash output since after simplifying the project to just basic shapes and triggers, using the right click trigger still appears to be unresponsive. Thanks so much for letting us know about this issue. I’ve logged it as a possible software bug.
From here, I’ll meet with my team to take a closer look so we can determine next steps. Sometimes my team catches errors in my logic and we don’t have a bug after all. Of course, if that’s the case, I’ll let you know!
I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. Thanks so much again for letting us know about this, and I’m sorry if it’s slowing you down.

As Emily mentioned, right-clicks don't work when published content is tested locally. Here is a Right-Click example that's hosted on a server: http://dev.keypointlearn.com/xcl71_SL/RightClick/V2/story.html
Thanks,
I've published as CD so this needs to work locally as well, but I found that only when opening the .exe file this works and not the html...

Hi all,
You may find that right-click triggers aren't working on the base slide layers in your Articulate Storyline 2 Flash output.
This issue was fixed in Update 7 for Storyline 2. Install the latest version of Storyline 2 to take advantage of the new features and fixes, then republish your course.

Hi Alyssa,
No, not tried it in another LMS environment, as I need it to work in the one we use.
I will see if I can produce a non corporate sensitive module that acts the same, to upload.
Thanks
Anthony
Created a non corporate sensitive course that also fails to respond when using the Right Click command and sent it to the Support Center.
Thanks
Anthony

Hey Rob,
Thanks for reaching out and letting us know that you've been impacted by this as well.
It looks like Anthony was able to share some additional details and confirm that this is an issue we are aware of.
I'm going to add a note indicating we have another affected user as well.
This thread is attached as well so that we can update you here when we can.
Thanks folks.
Does anyone in the community have some clever ways of simulating a right click without actually right clicking for teaching software simulation?
