Right click event not working
Feb 20, 2013
Hi everyone
I am trying to change the state of an image from hidden to normal when the learner right clicks on an object within the slide, however it does not seem to work.
The other 3 click events (click, double click & click outside) all work fine.
I have tried attaching this trigger to an image, a text entry box & a hotspot but none of them work.
I have seen other forum posts about right clicking not working after publishing, but this is in the preview within storyline.
Any ideas?

Hi Craig,
Hmm. Not sure what may be causing that, unless maybe something's block it the image that's supposed to trigger it. However, if that were the case then the other event types wouldn't work either.
Any chance you can share your .STORY file here, so I can take a look? If the file is too large to post, you can insert the slides with this content into a new project and simply share that smaller file, if you'd like.
Hi Christine
Thanks for the help, I think the issue must have something to do with the number of layers I have on the slide (have gone a bit crazy) as in order to simplify the issue I created a new slide with just the layer that I had the problem on and it worked fine.
I have attached a story file with both examples - the full original slide with the RC not working (on layer 2) and a 2nd slide with just the problematic layer where it does work. As a workaround I can just create a new slide rather than use the layers in this way, but would still be interested to know what caused it to not work as they are both seemingly set up the same.
Also don't worry about the featured patient, its not a real person!
Thanks
Good morning Craig!
Thanks very much for the file
Hmm. I've taken a look and I think I might be missing something. The trigger for right-click is on that little text field, correct? I'm seeing the same behavior on both slides, so I'm concerned that I may not be looking at the right object.
I'm uploading the course for testing and right-clicking on either field shows the little popup for me.
Can you take a look for me please?

Thanks!
Hi Chrisitne
Its afternoon over here in the UK!
You're not missing anything, the trigger is on the text field. Its really strange, they both work fine for me in your upload, but the one on the first slide still does not work for me on my original course when previewing in storyline.
Just to confuse matters further, I have tried it on a different PC and both triggers work in both your upload and in preview!! All seems to an idicate something on my PC causing the issue, but as one RC function works and the other doesn't I have no idea what it could be! You have however, proved that it will work for other people, so no real issue in the long run.
I think its just one of those mysteries!
Thanks for looking at it for me
Craig
Hi Craig! Good afternoon!
Hmm.. well, that'd kinda good, at least I am a little concerned with the fact that it's not working on that machine though, any chance that installation isn't up to date? It may not be a big deal for you in the end, but I just want to double-check and see if we can get this running properly on both machines :D
If you click on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline", you'll be able to see what version you're using. Are you using version 2? If not, you may want to try downloading and installing it and see if that makes a difference.
Articulate Storyline - Update 2
Hi Christine
Hope you had a good weekend.
I was on V1.0.1205.123 but have now upgraded to the latest version via your link and it is now working as expected!!
Thanks for all your help with this.
Craig
Good morning Craig! I hope you had a great weekend
Awesome! Very happy to hear that the update fixed this for you. Thanks so much for the update, I appreciate it.
I have the November 2014 update (Update 2 (1411.210) Was Released November 21, 2014) and right clicking isn't working for me from preview mode. I do have multiple layers on the screen....
Hi Karen!
Based on your post, you are utilizing Storyline 2. This post is pretty dated and was related to Storyline 1.
Do you see the same behavior when you publish the content? Would you be able to share your .story file for us to take a look at?
I am seeing the behavior when publishing. Attached is my project just showing the "problem" screen. The second layer asks users to right click to show a different layer.
Let me know if there's a workaround I can use?
Thanks!
Karen
Hi Karen! I apologize, but I am not seeing any attachments. If you responded to the forums via e-mail, this may be why. Be sure to pop in and click on 'Add Attachment'.
Thanks Leslie - I did add the files via e-mail. Please see my project that is attached.
Thanks for sharing your files Karen! I was able to see and duplicate this behavior.
It has already been reported to our QA Team and this thread has been shared with them. I have also flagged this thread for update when applicable.
In the meantime, right click triggers seem to only work from the base layer.
