Role based Assessments in Storyline

Oct 24, 2014

Hello,

I am using SL1, and was trying to find out if we can do Role based assessments in SL.

On the main screen you would be given 2 buttons, Option A and Option B, if you select Option A, you would be presented with Scored Assessment for Option A, if you select Option B, you would be presented with Scored Assessment for Option B.

My Question, will I have 2 results slide and then depending on choice, I will be sending the result slide score to the LMS?  How can i send the score of the relevant role to the LMS as I can only select 1 Results slide to send.

Thanks

Hi Ravi,

You can do this with one results slide, but you would have to branch out the assessment where needed, then manually send the score and completion status to the LMS via JS.

However, to keep things simple I would create a story containing the Role choice and Option A, then a separate story containing assessment for Option B which should be visited if user clicks Option B.

Now, if you are more paranoid (like I usually am), you can create 3 stories, two of which will house the assessments.

However it will all ultimately depend on the way in which your LMS scores the SCORM content.

Hope this helps,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks. Do you have an example on how to send score and completion status to the LMS via JS. I am using SumTotal LMS.

Also, are you saying that I can house each assessment in its own individual SL file? How do you navigate to another SL file? Also, will the LMSInitialize function be called because it is a new .story file?

Thanks,

Ravi
