Hello, I have uploaded the storyline files to a moodle template and when trying to play content on a mobile device it says to rotate device in order to see content. However, when device is rotated the message still appears and does not show the content. Does anyone know what may be causing this? thanks!
Unfortunately i don't have the option to launch course in a new window as we want it to play within the website (moodle platform) and not open a new tab for it.
The strange part is some of the storyline courses do work when rotating the device in the moodle platform and some do not.
Launching the course in a new window would still be within your LMS:
I'm curious if you could upload the zipped published output to SCORM Cloud and see if you get the same results or if this is only within your LMS.
In addition, since you mentioned that it's behaving differently with different courses, we'd be happy to take a look and compare as well.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
Hi there, Viktor. Sorry to hear you're seeing this issue!
I had a peek at Chantal's support case, and see our team shared:
I made a change to the Responsive Player setting by switching it from Landscape Only to Landscape and Portrait. The issue went away when I republished the course again and reupload it to Moodle.
Let me know if that change helps with your experience, I'll be here!
Changing this setting is the workaround to avoid the incorrect display. If we discover any other workarounds, we'll be sure to list them in this discussion.
Hi, I also had this issue with an off-the-shelf e-learning module. When uploading it to our LMS (Kallidus) and playing it back on a desktop monitor, I got the message to rotate the device and couldn't go any further. The fix was to select Open in a New Window option on the E-Learning Setup screen. We use Storyline3 and hadn't come across this issue previously, but we always publish with Player properties set to Launch in a new window.
So I'm having the same rotation problem Chantal describes above, with an extra frustrating issue. My course refuses to play in anything but portrait mode, even when I select both landscape and portrait in the responsive playback settings. This is a real problem for a course with lots of info markers and drag/drop options, which get impossibly tiny when viewed in portrait mode. My preference would be to just require landscape mode for both tablets and phones, but at least with the phone doing puts users in "Please Rotate Your Screen" limbo where all is frozen and rotation is not recognized.
Anyone discover any workarounds to fix these responsiveness issues? (I'm working with the latest version of Storyline 360 so that doesn't seem to be the issue....)
I'm sorry to hear you're running into these issues as well, and that you've tried to troubleshoot your course with the recommended settings in this discussion.

I shared the file with a description about a week ago but never heard anything back. Also never received an email with the case # or anything. So not sure how to proceed.
Oh no! I just checked the case, and it looks like the file was never uploaded. I'll go ahead and email you the same link and see if it works through there so that our support team can get right on it!

Hi there, Chantal. When you load the course into Moodle, do you have the option of launching the course in a new window? Let me know if that helps.
If not, please feel free to work with our team to get the course the launch properly.

Hi Chantal,
Thanks for sharing your files so that I could take a look.
I just replied to you privately via your support case.
Hi!
Having the same issue... Was there a solution to this problem? Guessing it is Moodle <-> Player related. Please share how you solved it!
All the best,
Viktor

Hi Katie,
I'm experiencing the same issue. Changing the RP-settings resolves this issue.
However, it also keeps us from using this awesome feature. Isn't there another way to work around the problem?
Thanks in advance.
