Hi Guys I am just about to purchase Storyline 2; I intend run this on my MacBook Pro which has only 4 GB of ram but is upgradable to 8GB, do I need the 8GB?
I see from previous discussions that virtual machine is the way to go and Parallel seems to be the favourite among fellow heroes.
My question here is which edition of Windows 10 do I need? Pro or home. If there is any other information/advice that you think I need please don’t hesitate. Thanks Guys Paddy
Virtual Machine is the only way to go - at least on a Mac, because Storyline is only a Windows program. I run in VMWare, but lots of folks use Mac.
As far as the 8GB - I don't think it could hurt. Especially if you're going to be using a lot of media heavy elements or very large Storyline files. Always better to have more than you need, right?
As far as Windows version, I don't think we differentiate for Pro or Home - but you can see the requirements here.
just wanted to be sure about what version of Windows 10 as there is a huge price difference in home and pro versions, was a bit lost here as all websites just stated "Windows 10" leaving out what version to use.
I am pretty sure I just have the "Home" edition - and it's been working well. Although I still tend to use Windows 8.1 as my default. Change is hard and all that... :)
I've run it on home and pro edition in VMWare Fusion. I have 16G of RAM. If you're running in Bootcamp, 4G might be OK. More RAM is always better. You might struggle a bit with 4Gig.
I don't think Parallels will let you run windows 10 on a 4Gb machine. I have an air with 4Gb that works well with Windows 7 but will not let me upgrade to 10as asks for minimum of 2Gb for windows, SL2 is more resource intensive than SL1 really I would get the extra 4Gb.

Hi Patrick! I think Ashley mentioned above, but either version would work fine.

Thanks for this very useful feedback; so the conclusion here is that SL2 will not run with windows 10, using virtual machine software on a 4Gb Mac.
So need to upgrade my Mac to 8GB before purchasing SL2
Thanks Guys
you saved me a lot of hassle !
