Running Storyline on a Mac with Windows 7

Nov 26, 2012

I was running Storyline on a PC (moderately powerful Acer laptop) and was having trouble with a course I was editing... it has 6 videos with screencasts overlaying most of the videos. This caused Storyline to run slow, so I got on the company Mac, installed Windows 7 on a partition and installed Storyline.

While it runs faster, I still have trouble with the Video course. When I try to preview it to test things, it runs really slow, freezes up occasionally, or gives me a white box with an exclamation point in the middle.

Has anyone else had this type of problem and, if so, is there a viable solution?

P.S. it's a new Macbook Pro, so a very powerful machine that should not lock up

Hi Kenny!

Are the video files local? If they're located on a network, USB drive or disc, there may be issues with loading the videos and possible system lock-ups. Have you tried working with the videos on the local machine?

Here's some additional information:

When creating, editing, or publishing a Storyline project, be sure you're working from your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working from a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes you've made to your project, and loss of resources.

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble with the videos. Would you mind submitting a support case, so our tech team can take a look? They'll be able to test the files and see what's causing the video additions to lock up the program. If you can, please include your .story file in the case. Also, please share your case number with me, so I can follow the case progress.

Thanks again, Kenny.
