Save as Storyline file

Jan 19, 2015

Hi,

I downloaded to test Storyline 2 after being told it would not affect Storyline.  I opened a file I had created in Storyline and saved it as Storyline 2, now all my files are only able to be opened by Storyline 2?  I can not open any files now in Storyline? Is there no way to avoid this?

Thanks but that actually that opened in Storyline 2 as do all files on my computer.  Did get help direct with:

If you have Articulate Storyline 1 and Articulate Storyline 2 installed on the same computer, Microsoft Windows will always open your project files in the latest version by default—in this case, Storyline 2. If you need to open an existing project file in Storyline 1, see this article for instructions:

Basically you have to open Storyline, use the browse feature to open in Storyline if backed up file otherwise still opens in Storyline 2.

Yes, but that does not work with Storyline.  Windows defaults to Storyline 2 if both are installed.  Even if you try to open the backup file unless you open Storyline use the browse feature to open the backup file, all other files are considered Storyline 2 files and can not be opened by Storyline anymore unless you unistall Storyline 2.

Hi Thomas,

If you have Articulate Storyline 1 and Articulate Storyline 2 installed on the same computer, Microsoft Windows will always open your project files in the latest version by default—in this case, Storyline 2. If you need to open an existing project file in Storyline 1, launch Storyline 1 and use any of the following options:

  • If the file appears in your "recent projects" list, just click it.
  • Click Browse in the lower left corner of the start screen and select the file you want to open.
  • Click the round Articulate button in the upper left corner and select Open, then browse for the project file.

I know I can also right click on a file, and choose "Open with" - that allows me to choose to change the default or just a one time open with Storyline1 (although I know that's  not working for everyone here).
