This saved image is not the image I right clicked on. It's saving another image. Yes I'm positive I'm clicking on the right image, it's the only graphic on the timeline. I've rebooted. I've tried to save it out as different file types. I've re-saved the .story course with a new name. And no, i'm not working on a network.
And no I don't have access to the original graphic.
Could you share this .story file with us so that we could take a look at the behavior? I'm not seeing it within my own .story files, so I'm guess it has something to do with that image or the .story file itself. Without the original image file it's hard to say for certain.
Thanks for sending along. It looks like even choosing "change picture" and then trying to save that image, cause you to see the previous one. Do you know if this was the original inserted into Storyline? Was the screen capture/screenshot taken in Storyline or in another software? Without the original image, I think you're only option is to take a print screen, or use a tool like SnipIt to take a capture of that as it is on the slide.
As far as I know - that is the original. The screenshots are not taken using the Storyline "INSERT>SCREENSHOT" feature though. We all use snagit. So yes, I know in theory this image should be saved somewhere - but it's not.
Is this just a storyline random quirk/bug/corrupt object?
I just tried this with some of my own photos to see if I could replicate the behavior.
I inserted an image and then used the "change picture" element to replace it with an entirely different image. I than click "save picture as" and saved it to my desktop. When I went to look at it, the image matched what I had saved - it wasn't referring to the old image.
Can you tell me if you're able to replicate this in a new project and/or with a new image? I don't think it's a program bug but likely something specific in this file/image.
I'm trying to think of other ways in which I could try and recreate this behavior on my end. As I mentioned I saw it with your image included in Storyline, but without having the original of that image or knowing more about how it was created/edited/stored it's difficult to say why it's happening. Are you overwriting images within Snagit? Could it be somehow still using the old image and you made edits to it? I tested with a few different images files on my system and it all worked normally. Can you use SnagIt to capture a new copy of that image while it's on the slide itself?

That's what i had to do as the deadline was already past. It isn't perfect but it's damn near close enough. To all of your other questions, I don't know or remember. Snagit. Save Image (locally). Insert Image. There might have been a "CHANGE IMAGE" done if the software for this slide changed in the past. (I can't remember every image change due to a new software release).
I've noticed that sometimes objects in storyline just go corrupt. No rhyme or reason. Just gotta figure it out. I posted here because I was hoping this was something different and someone had a fix.
Corruption is difficult to pinpoint the reason, and you mentioned working locally and all the other items mentioned in terms of file names and such so those are always the first things we check for.
Hey Benji, thanks for your post. Can you tell me a bit more about what's going on in your file? When you right-click an object or image and select Save As Image, is it saving a different image entirely? Also, what version of Storyline are you using?
Is it possible you are working from a network or external drive? If so, try storing your file on a local drive instead. If you're already working locally and you're still getting stuck, send us your file by clicking here, and we'll take a closer look!

Here you go. When I try to save out that screenshot, it saves a different screenshot. It's similar but very very different data.
Enjoy. I need to make changes to that screenshot and right now i'm not sure what options I have other than to use the old Print-Screen

This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen this. It's not something I can re-create, it's just something that happens very sporadically.

I am having this same problem.
