When saving my project I often get this message: 

The project file could not be saved.

The process cannot access the file access file ......................... because it is being used by another process.

What am I doing wrong?

It looks like you might need to submit a support case.

I might be able to solve it, but it would require me doing a VNC or remote desktop session. That's more than likely what they will do for you after submitting your case.
