scenario going wrong on re-try
Apr 07, 2014
Hi
I've been going round in circles trying to work out what I'm doing wrong on a scenario activity for a customer care project.
In the scenario, learners have to choose the appropriate body language, tone of voice and greeting for a variety of different customers. There are two options for each, and the client doesn't want them to be able to move on until they've picked the right combination for each customer type.
I'm using individual number variables for each option - each variable only goes up to one. This seemed to be the simplest way to cope with all the different combinations the learners might choose.
When the learner gets to the end of the activity, they get the option to try again. So, when the learner clicks on the 'try again' button, I've added a trigger to make it re-set the variables to zero.
But, when I do this in preview and on publish, for some reason it messes up the scenario and it doesn't work in the same way. This only seems to happen after the 'try again' option, so I can only assume it's this that's causing the problem.
I've only created one scenario at the moment, of course, because I want to get it right before I replicate it for all the other customer types.
I know I must have done something wrong but I've been wrestling with it for ages and can't work it out!!! My brain is beginning to fry... anyone else out there with a clear mind?
Anne

It's hard to say without seeing it. Could you share the .story file?
Hi Cristina
Of course - I've attached it.

Try this....
Reorder the triggers for the "Try Again" button on the last slide so that the "Jump to 1.1 X Factor" trigger displays last.
Change the slide properties to "reset to initial state" for all of the question slides:
Hi Cristina
Thank you so much for your advice - I apologise for not coming back sooner but I didn't get email notification of your reply and I've been busy grappling with other scenarios (but not yet problems, I hope!). I will try this and get back to you.
Thanks again
Anne
Brilliant - that seems to be working now. Thank you!
Hi Anne,
Glad that this helped you out - and to get email notifications you'll need to use the "subscribe to replies" at the top of the thread after you reply, each time unfortunately. Necessary to prevent spam within the forums.
