Score Carry Forward in Storyline

Jul 25, 2017

Hi All,

I am trying to create a course in storyline with an assessment which has the following functions:

1. All 4 options will have some score (e.g. option 1 will give me 400 points, option 2 will give me 300 points and so on and so forth)

2. There will be a hint button, clicking on which will reduce my points by 50% (e.g. option 1 will give me 200 points, option 2 will give me 100 points and so on and so forth)

3. My score on the first question should be carry forwarded to the next question.

Please let me know if this is possible in storyline and what needs to be done to achieve this.

This is urgent, thanks in advance! :)

Hey David, this is possible and pretty strait forward with the use of variables.

Saving the total score in a variable will carry it throughout the course and you can use individual triggers on slides to add and subtract from it depending on what the user clicks.

I had a custom question that I had made a few years ago and I modified it to do what you were looking for it to do I believe.

This image is the example not previewed so you can see that there are instructions in red off stage left that tell you which trigger to edit to change the answer.

The next 3 point out the process of answering the question.

1) Question at start.

2) Hitting the Select for Hint" button. You can see that the points for this slide changes from 200 to 100 once that is selected. The user can then hide and show the hint without any more points being deducted.

3) When the correct answer is chosen the points for this slide are added to the the players score. Works just the same if "Select for hint" was never chosen, except it wold add 200 instead of 100.

Let me know if this works for you!
