SCORM multiple user issue in moodle

Oct 05, 2017

Hello,

I am eLearning developer for a land-based college. We use moodle version 3.3.2+ (Build: 20170928)

I have developed some eLearning resources for the college's induction period.

They are SCORM packages developed in Articulate Storyline. They are not large modules - the largest is 45mb and they have been fully tested on desktops, tablets, phones etc. and function correctly as an individual user in moodle.

We have started to experience serious issues when the student uptake has increased on these courses. This can happen with approx. 50 users.

What usually happens is the courses start as they should and then 15-20 mins into the session they start to freeze. This is usually represented by the spinning flash loader. Some users get the '500 - internal server error'. Usually if they close the scorm package and re-open they can continue from where they left off.

Does anyone have experience of this or possible fixes - please note my knowledge of servers is limited so please keep in layman's terms.

Many thanks,

Pete

Hi Pete,

I'm sorry you've run into an issue with course playback. That error message typically indicates something on the server site when accessing a site or trying to load page content.

Have you reached out to Moodle - that's where the content is hosted so it'd be my first stop! Have you reached out to your IT Team to see if they can spot anything in the general web traffic?

Best of luck with the issue and please feel free to keep us posted!
