Scratchy Audio

Hello!
I've created several different layers each with its own audio file. The file was recorded in Storyline.
Once the audio layer is opened and I'm in edit mode, the whole file starts to get scratchy and robotic.
This usually happens after 10 - 15 minutes of going through audio layers and editing them. When the sound does get scratchy, saving the file doesn't save the scratchy sound. The only way to get rid of the noise is to save the entire project file, close it then re-open it.
Is this a common bug in Storyline? Or could I be overloading the software?

It actually does it for any project file with audio. It also occurs on my co-worker's computer too.
