Screen Capture Best Practices

Mar 20, 2014

Hi.

I'm looking for some advice. I have to capture screen recording for software training. I have used the screen recording tool in Storyline before with limited success. I want the output to be as clear and large as possible. I also want to use a player for this training with Prev and Next buttons, etc. I also want it to be easily viewable on both 4:3 and 16:9 screens.

Here are my questions:

  1. What story size should I start with?
  2. What should I set the player's output settings to?
  3. What should I set my screen recording resolution to?

I have been trying different outputs and I'm starting to confuse myself. I could really use some help here.

Thanks in Advance,

Brian

Hi Brian,

I found a few similar threads on screen recording best practices such as this one and this one.  The latter post I've included some general screen recording practices I would employ and Owen also mentioned how to have the best possible quality after publishing.

Hope that helps - and you may also want to look into using Replay which is free with a Storyline license.
