Screen capture pause function doesn't really pause

Mar 25, 2020

Wondering if this is a known issue. While screen recording in Storyline, the pause function does not prevent the capture of clicks within the recording window, even though the recording window indicates pause is on. Pause is crucial to screen recordings, in preventing a whole lot of rework later in the process.

Also, I think Screen Recording should have it's own topic category, rather than lumping all under storyline.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for sharing what you are experiencing with your screen recordings.

This is an issue that has been shared with our team for further investigation.

In the meantime, you have a couple of options:

  1. Delete the extra screen recording slides.
  2. Instead of pressing the pause key, finish the recording. Then, start a new recording at the next step.

I've added this conversation to the report as we continue to track user impact and so that we can update you here with any additional information.

Thanks Leslie. I searched support for this topic, but didn't find any related discussion. Is there a "known issues" list somewhere?

I hope the importance of this function is realized. While capturing software simulations, we often come across the need to pause, make a tweak to the environment, then continue. This results in little or no re-work later. The options you outline are time-consuming, tedious, and error-prone. Hopefully this will be fixed soon!
