Screen capture recordings automatically playing

Mar 19, 2019

I am recording using Articulate 360 and placing them into slides to play on a trigger.  However, sometimes the recordings begin to play automatically ignoring any trigger.

The triggers I used to manage this recording are:

  • hotspot (when selected, play screen capture)

To resolve this issue I placed a trigger on timeline to stop media at the beginning of timeline, etc etc.  nothing seems to happens, plays the same.  The screen recording has a mind of its own.  It has been working previously, but stopped.

I am having similar problems with hiding captions (hotspot, button etc. when selected change state of <item> to hidden.  Not always working.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hi there, Susan. A couple of questions so I can help better:

  • After creating your screen recording, which mode did you use to insert the screen recording slides into your project?
  • Has anything changed since it stopped working? Are the slides that were working suddenly stop working, or did using this process stop working?

If you'd like to share your project, I'm happy to have a look! With your permission, I can investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi there,

I seem to have the same problem and because there is no solution named here i wanted to ask for help on the same question.

I have added the screen recording in viewing mode. My plan is to trigger the screen recording with a click on a form and have it change to the next slide after the recording is finished.

But somehow the recording starts on it own. I removed and added the trigger starting the next slide, so that one doesn't seem to be the problem. I've also tried adding the trigger to something different, still didn't work. So I'm assuming a problem with the screen recording.

Thanks in advance

Hi Selina,

Thank you for reaching out! When did you start noticing these changes with your Screen Recordings? Is this happening for any Screen Recording you create?

If you need our help to take a look at your file, we're always more than happy to take a look! You can share files in this thread here or you’re always welcome to share it privately here. I'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look!

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I just made a little demo version of what I'm trying to achive, because the other file is quite big. Still the same issue. So I think the problem is with every Screen Recording I make.

I can't really say 'when' I noticed the change, because I'm fairly new to the programm and I just recently thought of the idea to structure my project in that particular way, and then I came to the problem of it not working out in the ways I tired to achieve it.

I would be very grateful for help, so attached is the demo version of my attempt

Hi Selina,

Thank you for sharing a demo file!

I was running into the same instance where the Screen Recording would start on its own while I was viewing the slide. This was due to the Timeline starting the slide and having those interactions begin. I added a trigger to the demo file that should help out here. That trigger is to pause the timeline when it reached a certain point. I am attaching an updated version of this file to this thread.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this!
