We wish to have a small course where the learner can view short demos. The basic design concept design is as seen below.
We want to edit the screns, so can only use the "Insert as slides" option in SL. But then, it sseems like we cannot resize the slides to fit the lower screen area we wish to use for the demos.
Question: if you're not using the actual recording, but simply using screen shots, would Storyline's Screen Capture tool be more efficient? These captures can be resized and it's quick and easy to grab the screen you want. Or is there a reason you've chosen not to go this route.
Can you have the videos launch into their own browser windows? That way you could size them to be what size you want. One downfall: extra browser windows sometimes confuse learners.
Also, as a general rue, I prefer not scaling videos up or down. Don't want any possible image degradation from scaling.
I found a way to reposition the screen recording. After you created the slides with the whole screen recording sequence, resize the slides to a much bigger size. Later, resize the story again to the original size, cropping the area and positioning the screen recording as you desire..

Rebecca,
I was not able to find how to resize the slides I captured within SL.
And it is important to have it all in the exact same size and postion,
as well as inside a bigger slide.
Isn't it possible to capture originally in a smaller size than the project size, and have it entered inside the slides, same position and size.
Gerry,
Of course it is best not to resize at all - can you give anpther option to get to the requsted result?
Actually - I'm very dissappointed form what I was able to acomplish n SL with screen capturing.
Having a design as shown above shpukld be basic.
We will not be opening another window.
Even embedding a Captivate demo inside would be a better solution than a new window.
Hi all!
I found a way to reposition the screen recording.
After you created the slides with the whole screen recording sequence, resize the slides to a much bigger size. Later, resize the story again to the original size, cropping the area and positioning the screen recording as you desire..
Hope it helps!
Enrico
