Screen not loading in published story?

Oct 08, 2020

I publish my Articulate projects on Amazon Web Services. The last published version worked perfectly. Today, I made some changes to one of the slides and re-published. Now that one screen won't load in the published version. I just get the loading animation screen on that slide, and can't navigate away from it. This screen works in the preview mode.

Also: when I publish the project, and click on "view project," my browser opens up five tabs and says "file not found."

I am working locally off of my C drive. Can anyone please help me? :( I am attaching my project. The slide that I made changes (and now won't load) is to in Scene 3, Slide 2: Example.

Hello Emily,

I don't use AWS, but I've already had a similar problem where the display was different after a new release or with graphical bugs.

Most often it is a browser cache error (it loads the old items it has in memory and does not take into account all the new ones).

The best would be to empty the cache and to see if the problem comes from there, you can open your link in "private browsing" or in a new browser to test.

The most amazing thing is the error message for files not found. Ideally when you update a training, you should delete everything in the AWS directory and then put all the new files in.

I hope this will help you a bit, keep us informed.

Have a nice day.

Thanks for your response, Jonathan! I do delete/replace everything in the AWS directory when I update. I ended up rebooting my computer and Articulate a couple of times and the problem went away. I've been a bit surprised how glitchy the program is. Is it because I'm working with a trial version?

Thanks again for your help! I appreciate it.

Hello Emily, glad to see it's working.

If you are using the trial version or have a license, there shouldn't be any problem.

Have you checked that your system has the minimum system requirements?

Otherwise, you may try to contact support.

I wish you a good day

Hello Emily, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

I'm glad that Jonathan was able to pop in and help you with some AWS advice.

I wanted to address the other question you originally asked:

When I publish the project and click on the "view project," my browser opens up five tabs and says, "file not found."

Since you refer to AWS, I assume that you're publishing the project file for the web. Clicking 'View Project' displays the course locally. To view the course properly and avoid any browser security issues, we recommend viewing it in the uploaded environment that it was published for.
