Screen Reader Issues with NVDA in Internet Explorer 11

Feb 13, 2020

Hi Team,

I have an Issue with NVDA in combination with IE 11. I am currently using the "NVDA, Version 2019.3.1" and "Storyline Version 3.35" (I also tested the new SL Version 3.36, but this makes it even worse).

The Screenreader reads out every textbox as "group" (I tested every kind of text, that is possible in SL). Firefox and Chrome works fine. With SL 3.36 (in Firefox Chrome and IE), NVDA not even targets these textboxes. This is wierd and I cant find the reason. Has anybody noticed this issue before?

Thanks, Stefan

Hi there, Stefan!

I'd love to help you investigate the NVDA behavior! First, here's a quick recording of my test when viewing Storyline 360, Update 37, output in IE version 11.657.18362.0.

I'm having trouble reproducing the 'group' sound when navigating to a sample textbox, so I'll need your help:

  • Do you experience the same problem when viewing my published output?
  • Is the course hosted on a web server or a learning management system?
  • Are you comfortable with attaching an affected slide publicly here or privately here? We'll take another closer look and delete the file after.

We'll get to the bottom of this together!
