Screen recording changing colours and focus

Mar 18, 2019

When I review my slides within Storyline, they look okay (just previewing the timeline) but when they are published, the slides with screen recordings look terrible!  The colours are changing on their own, the focus on the slides comes and goes, and there's a lag between each slide that is VERY visible (looks like a few extra frames have been added in, but action fine-tuning shows nothing).  This is driving me insane.

I've added a slide transition to help with the lag, but it's not a great solution as it will require much more fine tuning than I am willing to invest at this point.  I've recorded the screen as one full exercise and then imported it into Storyline.  I've published multiple ways, with various quality settings.  I know the colours of my software aren't changing, something is happening in Storyline.  What is going on?!?!

It's available in review for anyone who wants to take a look: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/fd4804d0-4095-49b6-9f7d-9bf60e473afc/review

Thank you.

Hi Ashley,

I was using Chrome 72 yesterday, but updated today to 73 but it's still happening for me.  It was slightly improved using Edge.

I've attached a screenshot below which has 2 of the slides side by side so that it's more clear what the differences are.  These frames are from the same screen recording and appear one after the other in the course.  The left is more blurry and the green is lighter, the right appears to be more clear.  Recorded as one continuous screen capture.

Thanks,

Lindsay

Hi there, Lindsay. Thanks for sharing your link and the image of what you were seeing. I can see two things happening:

  • a slight flicker between view mode steps
  • a shift in color and crispness between the still frame and the actual screen recording video

We have both of these issues documented, but I don't have a workaround to offer at this point. I'm going to tag this discussion for updates on both of these bugs. I'm really sorry it's impacting your work.
