Screen Recording Data Entry Score

Jul 30, 2018

I recently created a "Try It" screen recording that required the user to input certain data. Upon examining the recording, I noticed a Form View tab on the right side of the slide.  Within the tab is a scoring option. Since I am scoring the module based on the number of slides viewed, as opposed to each question, I was wondering if there is a way to set the scoring default to None so that I do not have to edit every data entry Form View in the module.

Hi Darin,

Thanks for reaching out.

A global way to update the default setting is not a feature at this time. You can certainly update the individual slides.

Are you scoring by slides viewed or tracking this way when published? If the latter, you should not have to change this setting at all :)

You're welcome to share your idea and use-case directly with our team here :)

If I've misunderstood or you'd like me to take a look at anything, please feel free to share your .story file.

Leslie,

Thanks for responding. I am scoring these modules in the LMS by slides viewed. I have gone into each data input slide and changed the score option to None. There appears to be some documentation that implies that a screen recording done in as a test would be scored, but a screen recording done as a Try It would not be scored. If this is the case, why have scoring settings available?

Hi Darin!

If your screen recording includes text entry slides, you'll see a score for correct answers in Form View.

However, learners will never know their score unless you insert a Results Slide after the Try It slides. The Results Slide is also what sends the score to the LMS. If you do not include a results slide, the score will not be sent.

Finally, when you publish for LMS, you'll want to track using number of slides viewed. This will trigger course completion when learners view a specific number of slides.

I hope that helps to clear things up!

Alyssa,

Thank you so much for clearing that up. I was unaware that the Results slide was the key to a score getting put into the LMS. So just to recap, if I want to track a score, I must make sure I have a Results slide. If I want to track the number of slides viewed, I just need to have that option chosen in the settings.
