Screen Recording Duplicated Screens

Nov 09, 2016

Hi All!

I just screen recorded a program we use for work and did something to alter the size a little while ago and just noticed that I have one smaller screen on top of the other. I cannot undo the action because I have done numerous other things and I will lose that work if I do so. Has anyone ever had this issue and is there anything I can do to solve it? Please help! :(

Hi Monique, thanks for including that screenshot  - I have not seen this issue before. Are you working off of your local hard drive? I ask because working off of a shared or network drive can cause erratic behavior in Storyline.

Also, have you tried doing another screen recording since the one pictured in the screenshot? If so, did you see the same behavior?

I think it would be most helpful if our engineers could poke around in the file a little to troubleshoot. If you do decide to share it with our engineers here, you can let me know the case number here and I'll be sure to follow along with it as well! :)

Yes, I was working off of my local hard drive. After a while I just redid the screen recording but do not want to try to duplicate the problem again because there seems to be no way to undo it. So I basically just started over and hope to not see that issue anymore. I always have issues when trying to change the screen size but have learned my lesson and will try to avoid it. If I run into the problem again, I will share it with the engineers and let you know the case number.

Thanks a bunch!

Glad you were able to record successfully the second time, Monique.  It sounds like this is a recurring issue since it happens every time you change the screen size, so I would recommend repairing your software to fix this erratic behavior.

And yes, definitely let me know if you open the case in the future, and I'll be sure to follow along. :)
