Hi there, Tom! You came to the right place for help. 😊
Thanks for sharing your published output file with me, and I'd also love to see the original (unpublished) file so I can open it and take a look under the hood. Would you mind sharing that with me, as well?
Thanks for the new file. While I didn't see a black flash between slides, I did notice the screen recording would start blurry and become clear when the recording played. This is actually a bug our team is investigating, so I'll be sure to add this file to our bug report.
Since you're seeing black flashes between slides, let's double-check that we're using the same version of Storyline. Click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.20.16814.0 in the bottom-right corner if you're using Storyline 360.
Now, can you tell me what you mean by making the mouse movements more fluid? I did notice an unnecessary mouse on a few slides, and you can easily remove it by cutting it from the timeline.
I'm using Storyline 3, Update 5: 3.5.16548.0. The flashing only seems to happens when opened in Internet Explorer which is the default for our users, whereas Chrome and when previewed within Articulate it's slightly different and instead of the flashing I'm getting a slight change in contrast between the slides.
Not to worry about the mouse movements, I'll continue to tidy them up after filming
Thanks - I published the course you shared with that version of Storyline and uploaded it to SCORM Cloud here. Can you take a look and let me know how this looks to you?
I don't believe I'm seeing a Flash other than the change of the slides, but the end of the day...my eyes could be deceiving me. 🙃
Let me know what you think and if you're also seeing the odd contrast issue in Chrome. Do you know what version of Chrome you're using?
The flashing occurs less frequently with your version. 4 times with yours vs. 14 with mine. I've attached a screen recording, of the screen recording, so you can see what I mean by the flashing, if it's not happening your end.
I'm still seeing the contrast issue in Chrome, although it's less of an issue as our users use internet explorer by default. I only mentioned it in case it helped diagnose the problem
Version 69.0.3497.100 of Chrome and version 11.0.9600.1919CO of IE
Thanks for that video. It looks like we're on the same version of Chrome and IE, but seeing very different things! I took a quick Peek recording of what I was seeing here in Chrome, and as you'll see I don't have a flash/blink at all.
Do you know if you're viewing the Flash or HTML5 output in both browsers? I'm viewing the HTML5 so I'd want to confirm if you were using the same?
I've checked and it defaults to HTML5 / Flash. I've tested the other formats and Flash only seems to do the trick (no black flashing) which is a workaround :) thank you.
But still a bit odd as everything I've produced up until now has been published using the HTML / Flash option and has worked just fine
Glad to know you've got a workaround for now, but I'd still like to figure out what is causing you to see the blinking between slides.
Did you watch my Peek video? How did that appear to you? I wonder if there is something else enabled in your Chrome browser (an extension or similar) that's causing the odd playback. Have you tried testing it on a different computer/device with the same browser? What about in an incognito window in Chrome?
Your peak video works as expected. We're a large organisation so I expect browser updates are pushed out to all computers (I may be wrong) but yes, it's flashing on multiple computers.
The contrast change still occurs using a Chrome Incognito window. It would be useable if we were to use Chrome, but IE is the default for our users and it's in IE that we're seeing the flashing
Since you were able to see the flashing/blinking on my version, although less than yours, and regardless of the browser it seems to be a combination of the hosting and browser used. Have you run into anything similar with other sites?
You mentioned this recently started happening and you had courses that were previously published working fine. Are you able to determine when the change started? That would be good info as your IT team could look for any other updates that occurred at the same time.
I uploaded the finished product to our virtual learning environment in HMTL format and it worked as expected. If you're hosting your package somewhere similar, then that may be a solution.

Hi Alyssa,
I've deleted the previous recording but i'll make another. Thank you for your assistance!
While we're at it I wonder if you have any suggestions on how to make the mouse movements a bit more fluid when using the view mode steps?

Hi Tom,
Are you still experiencing the blink/flashing between slides, from a screen recording?
I continue to have this problem, and like you, the only way around it is to publish my projects in Flash (which isn't an option anymore).
Did you ever find a workaround?
Thanks
