Screen Recording is recording entire monitor including the red recording box

Hello, my screen recording seems to be recording itself. I'm recording to my story size. You can actually see the red recording box in my recording output. I've recorded on an external monitor as well as laptop. Same outcomes. My next step is to have my IT department uninstall then reinstall Storyline. Thanks in advance for any guidance. I've attached a screenshot for your reference.

Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled. I tried recording in default story sizes and had same outcome. Then I recorded in our custom story size and it worked! I had attempted recording in custom size earlier today with outcomes described above (and in screenshot). I think it could have been that my story size custom setting wasn't being saved. Just a guess.

Ha ! Yes, that was about a year ago when I got storyline. I'm just now getting around to recording again. This was the first time I had the recording of the recording area (red box). I have such different experiences each time I use it, but admit I use it after long periods of time and probably forget exactly how i'm setting up and recording.

I'm having problems with the record screen function - it is now recording well beyond the canvas or screen size.  I've tried changing dimensions.  No change.  It was working okay earlier in the day.
I've opened a new project and the record screen results in an empty scene when I insert it.
Any suggestions?

Hi Josephine!

That doesn't sound right! Are you using an external monitor? If so, I'd recommend unplugging the external monitor while recording and see it make a difference.

I see that Nicki uninstalled/reinstalled Storyline 360, which did the trick. Have you tried a quick repair?
